Meet the Doctor

Kristina Simonsen, D.C.

Dr. Kristina Headshot 2020

I was born and raised in Cherokee, Iowa and it was here that I met my husband, Patrick, who is a veterinarian at Le Mars Veterinary Clinic. Following our graduations in 2013, we moved to southwest Michigan, where I worked as an associate chiropractor and Patrick worked as an associate veterinarian. We welcomed our daughters, Lauren, in October 2014 and Emma, in February 2018. From the time Lauren and Emma were born they have been benefiting from chiropractic care and I am proud to say that they are happy healthy little girls.

From a young age I knew I wanted to help people better their health. However, I did not know which direction I wanted to take in order to provide health care to the community. I worked in a pharmacy while in college and after seeing person after person come in to get pills for this and that (and pills for the side effects of the pills they were taking!) I knew there had to be a different way to help people restore their health. Prior to that I worked in a chiropractic office and witnessed people getting better without the use of medicine or surgery. After those job experiences I had my answer.

I graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Biology in the spring of 2009. Later that year I began my chiropractic education at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. I obtained my Doctor of Chiropractic in February 2013. As a student at Palmer I had the opportunity to help members of the Quad Cities and surrounding area. I was able to travel to Brazil for a clinic abroad program through Palmer College of Chiropractic. This gave me the opportunity to provide chiropractic care to those who would otherwise not have access to health care. While at Palmer I learned several techniques to better help people based on their area of complaint which include: Gonstead, Diversified, Thompson Drop, and Activator.

I am currently working towards my certification in pediatric chiropractic care and have become Webster Technique certified to help mom's body for babies arrival. Because of my daughters, I have had a strong desire to help pregnant women and children achieve their optimum health. It's easier to prevent illness in a healthy person than to try to "fix" a sick person. I strive to help all persons of the community and find it important to provide chiropractic care to those of all ages.
